Goynes STEM academy strives to develop our students' critical thinking skills along with kindness, respect, and responsibility to ensure that our students become problem-solving, lifelong learners.
Building Engagement, Communication, Culture Everyday
We will engage students in authentic work, peer-centered discourse, and collaboration within a reflective culture to develop deep content knowledge through the Project/Problem-Based Learning (PBL) teaching method, and STEM activities.
Student Success Goal
Increase the number of students that “met projected growth” in Math, as measured by the MAP Growth Assessment, from 60% in spring 2022 to 70% in spring 2023.
Increase the number of students that “met projected growth” in ELA, as measured by the MAP Growth Assessment, from 57% in spring 2022 to 67% in spring 2023.
Adult Success Goal
Teachers will increase the use of student goal setting, student metacognition, and rubrics for grading as measured by classroom observations and feedback conferences with the administration. By the end of the year, 70% of observed lessons will show metacognitive strategies (NEPF Instructional Standard 4).
Connectedness Goal
Reduce the percent of all students chronically absent from 31% to 21% by Spring 2023, as measured by CCSD FocusED, and reported on the NSPF.
