WELCOME TO SEMESTER 2 - Happy Spring Semester!
Service, scholarship, character, and leadership are the core principles of NHS, and the DOHS student chapter holds itself to the highest standards. Each year, members together complete more than 1,000 hours of individual community service (school tutors, hospital volunteers, staff for various projects and campaigns benefiting community groups throughout Southern Nevada). Together the chapter’s small, individual donations of time and resources add up to make a huge difference in our community. In accordance with national and DOHS chapter regulations, sophomores and juniors are invited to apply for membership if their cumulative GPA’s reach 3.4 or higher. Invitees must attend a meeting in November to learn about the additional steps necessary in their pursuit of full membership. Those nominees who meet the GPA criteria, complete new membership packets, attend meetings, and complete 20 volunteer hours will be inducted during a Spring ceremony. Continued membership requires the maintenance of a 3.4 GPA or higher, 80% meeting attendance, and the completion of 30 service hours per year.
We'll meet (at a minimum) on these dates in Room 717 with Ms. Burt. Sept 8; Oct 6; Nov 3; Dec 8; Jan 12; Feb 9; Mar 9; Apr 6; May 4.
