ACT updates!

1. ACT Enhancements  -  Shorter Testing Time & Fewer Questions 

   • The enhanced ACT has 44 fewer items and a reduced total test time (from 215 to 205 minutes), giving students an average of 10 seconds more per question.

   • Math questions now have 4 answer options instead of 5.  

   • Writing and Science remain key components of the ACT experience for Nevada students.

2. English Learners Supports - Updated and Extended

   • EL Supports are now valid for two years instead of one.

   • The only support requiring ACT approval is extended time.

3. New Test Prep Resources - Free and For Purchase

   • Quiz Me practice questions are FREE, short, and engaging - perfect for reinforcing key ACT concepts. 

   • Visit this ACT Enhancements page for additional practice questions in English, Math, Reading, and Science.

   • The Preparing for the ACT Test PDF includes a FREE full-length practice test that reflect the new ACT enhancements.  (Note: This currently differs from the free online practice test in MyACT.)

   • ACT Online Prep (AOP) now features a new platform powered by Mastery Prep, with interactive micro-videos for a more engaging, standards-aligned experience.  Schools with > 50% FRLP students receive a 50% discount. The per student price for a grade 9-12 site license is $8.95.  Contact me for a quote. 

4. Try the New AI Companion on ACT.org  Invite students to visit www.ACT.org to interact with our AI-Powered student companion - a smart, personalized way to engage in college and career readiness.  

5. In-Person Events in Nevada 

   • The annual ACT College and Career Readiness Workshops (CCRW) are coming to Nevada!  Join us on Monday, September 15th in Las Vegas (CSN - Charleston) or Monday, October 13th in Reno (TMCC).  These half-day, interactive sessions offer opportunities to network, explore data-informed strategies, and collaborate with ACT experts to improve outcomes for Nevada students.    • The ACT Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a dynamic national network of over 15,000 educators and workforce professionals who collaborate to share best practices and drive innovation in education and career readiness.  Have a strategy, success story, or insight to share?  Submit a proposal by September 9th to present at the Las Vegas ACT Summit at UNLV on January 29, 2026 at UNLV.
