Referrals for GATE can be made by teachers or parents throughout the academic year.

Teachers make referrals based on test scores and learner behaviors, but sometimes parents notice gifted traits in other settings that might not be spotted in the classroom.

If you suspect your child might be gifted, you can discuss it with you child's teacher and ask for their insights, or you can email me directly to put your child's name on the testing list.

The testing process takes time, as gifted teachers typically administer two tests- the NNAT 3 and the KBit2, and each test needs to be scored by two GATE specialists. Results are mailed to the home.

Gifted services begin in 3rd Grade. Referred 2nd graders are tested in the spring in preparation for the following year.
