With support from the Ohio Environmental Education Fund and in collaboration with great partners, we are developing outdoor education activities that follow from students' experience at Nuhop. Many teachers who accompany their students to Nuhop will be using these activities. They are also available to any educator for use with their students.
Students will embark on a hands-on soil and habitat survey at their school, uncovering the intricate links between soil, plants, and habitats. Their discoveries will spark innovative ideas to rejuvenate their local environment while exploring exciting careers in environmental science and restoration."
Students will understand how the phases of matter (solid, liquid, gas), temperature, and pressure influence natural processes critical for habitat restoration, such as water cycles, oxygenation, and the role of temperature in ecosystem health.
Students will deepen their grasp of fossilization by diving into a hands-on fossil discovery simulation. They'll craft and bury their own 'fossils' using outdoor materials and embark on an interactive excavation adventure. Through analyzing their finds, they'll piece together a timeline of how various organisms might have been preserved in their local area over time."
