Aquilaria banaensis P.H. Hô, 1987 (synonym: Aquilaria banaense), an endemic species confined to the hilly terrains of western Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue provinces in Vietnam, exemplifies such ecological uniqueness. However, this plant and its genus are listed under Category II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), with most species classified as either “Endangered” (EN) or “Vulnerable” (VU) (CITES, 2005).
Therefore, the Life-science team conduct the studying the genomic data of this species is essential to support its conservation and breeding efforts. The initial phase of this project involves documenting the plant’s morphology and chloroplast genome, as well as analyzing its genomic characteristics.
With the aim of being trained about theoretical knowledge and experimental techniques in molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, and data analysis methods, three member of Life-science team participated in the MAKDA workshop, organizing by the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development (IMPLAD).
Dr. Minh Thiet Vu and Dr Khoa Do Hoang Dang attended the course was organized by CSIR-IGIB in New Delhi during 2-6 August, 2023.
Dr. Minh Thiet Vu and Dr Khoa Do Hoang Dang were two main supervisor, teaching the knowledge, appreciation, and application of Illumina and Nanopore sequencing related to microbial pathogens.
Participating in the Rencontres de Quy Nhon VI: International Biology Conference with several topics related to chloroplast genomes.
