2.Integration into PDP 2023–2028
The Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028 integrates science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of economic and social transformation. Recognizing innovation as a cross-cutting strategy, the PDP emphasizes the importance of digital infrastructure, research commercialization, and technology adoption to increase productivity and competitiveness across sectors.
Approved by the National Innovation Council (NIC) on June 30, 2023, and officially launched on September 27, 2023 by President Marcos Jr.
It provides a ten-year roadmap for building a robust innovation ecosystem in the country. NIASD seeks to foster collaboration among government, academia, industry, and civil society to promote creativity, technological advancement, and inclusive innovation. It outlines ten priority sectors, including education, health, food, energy, and digital transformation. Through this agenda, the government actively supports programs that help startups, empower inventors, and promote the commercialization of locally developed technologies.
