The presence of Burgis students in UP Diliman often amplifies the divide between privileged and less fortunate students. Those from less fortunate backgrounds may face challenges that "burgis" peers do not, such as juggling academics with financial struggles or lacking access to the same resources for study and extracurriculars. This economic gap can lead to feelings of isolation, inferiority, and exclusion for non-burgis students, as they may find it harder to participate in campus life or compete academically and socially. They might feel overwhelmed by the stark contrast between their financial realities and the seemingly effortless access to opportunities enjoyed by their "burgis" counterparts. 

For the university as a whole, this divide undermines the vision of UP as a space where students from all backgrounds can come together equally. The growing influence of "burgis" students in organizations and events diverts attention from the university’s primary mission of supporting those from less fortunate backgrounds. As "burgis" students take advantage of the university's free offerings, the focus shifts away from addressing the needs of underprivileged students. This dynamic leads to feelings of lack of representation in decision-making, which can cause underrepresented students to disengage from campus life. Without diverse voices in leadership and programming, the richness of the student experience suffers, limiting personal growth and ultimately causing the university to lose sight of its commitment to those who are less privileged.
