GENRE: Filipino Lullaby
COMPOSER: Lucio San Pedro
LYRICIST: Levi Celerio
LYRICS:
Puso kong may dusa
Sa Ugoy ng Duyan is a Filipino lullaby (literally in Tagalog: "In the Rocking of the Cradle"; official English title: "The Sway of the Baby Hammockâ). Levi Celerio wrote the lyrics, and Lucio San Pedro made the music. They were both recognized as Public Specialists of the Philippines, and this song represented their most well-known joint effort. San Pedro was inspired to write the song's music by the lullaby his mother, Soledad Diestro, used to hum to put him and his siblings to sleep as children. San Pedro and Celerio, who passed away in 2002 just two days apart, were both eventually recognized as National Artists of the Philippines.
