WELCOME REMARKS FROM THE CEO

The National Training Agency (NTA) is a critical link in achieving the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s policy, intended to create a knowledge-based workforce through educational access for all, quality teaching and learning, and applied research.

WHO WE ARE

Established out of a CARICOM (1990) Regional Strategy on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the National Training Agency (NTA) commenced operations in 1999.

ESTABLISHMENT OF A UNEVOC CENTRE AT THE NTA

In June 2019, the NTA was approved as a UNEVOC Centre by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

OCCUPATIONAL STANDARDS FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

The development of market-driven and industry-relevant Occupational Standards ensures that standards are developed in order to supply a cadre of competent and highly-skilled workers for the increasingly-competitive global economy.

Labour Market Reports are critical in evaluating skill demand, with data provided by employers on current staff numbers, job vacancies, skill gaps, and training needs and anticipated skills demand being fundamental information in producing these reports accessible with a click.

REVISED CENTRE AND PROGRAMME APPROVAL CRITERIA

The National Training Agency has revised the Centre Approval Criteria for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The Centre Approval Criteria are applied to providers of face-to-face, blended and online TVET programmes. Institutions found to be in compliance with these standards will be approved by the NTA for a maximum period of three (3) years, with the option to reapply to maintain their approval status.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS APPROVED THE NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO (NQF-TT)

The Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) and the National Training Agency (NTA) are pleased to announce the approval of the National Qualifications Framework of Trinidad and Tobago (NQF-TT).

The Human Resource Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HRMATT) continues to extend its support to the National Training Agency’s (NTA), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme.
