To inform, educate and update Stakeholders on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
Understanding our products and services and what they can do for you
The NTA provides valid, timely data and informational reports on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). These reports benefit job seekers, employers, training providers, policymakers and the general public. Listed below are the various reports produced by the NTA and the type of data and information provided, which can be found on the NTA's website: www.ntatt.org
Demand-side Labour Market Reports
Aligned with the government's developmental priorities, the NTA researches specific economic sectors for development to ascertain current and future skill demand. The research is done by interfacing with employers, industry captains, and other key stakeholders to gather data on current staffing levels, job vacancies, skill gaps, training needs, and new and emerging skills within the sector.
These reports are especially beneficial to:
Students and job seekers - to guide decisions on a specific field of study or occupational area;
Training institutions - to inform their programme offerings; and
Employers - to better understand trends and factors affecting the demand for skilled labour.
In July 2022, the NTA launched a new and updated approach to collecting and reporting on demand-side labour market data with a focus on the current and future skills needs. The inaugural study was conducted in the Agriculture and Agro-processing Sector, and the report is currently in its final stages of review.
Supply-Sde Labour Market Reports
The NTA conducts an annual survey of training providers to maintain a database of their programme offerings and student enrolment and graduation statistics. The Agency then uses this data to populate its online supply-side dashboard, which is available on the NTA's Website (click here to access). This dashboard is of significant benefit to:
Employers - to obtain information on training opportunities and gain an understanding of the skilled and certified persons comprising the supply of labour;
Students - to locate and filter relevant information on training programmes, levels, and types of certification offered, as well as geographic location;
Training providers - to increase reach and participation in programme offerings, and assist students and employers in making informed decisions.
Reports of the National TVET Research Council
To move away from institutional silos of data towards comprehensive national datasets, the NTA established the National TVET Research Council (NTVETRC). The Council connects critical partners and research practitioners, including policymakers, training/ educational institutions, industry representatives and trade unions that can inform the national TVET landscape. Through the expertise of its membership, the NTVETRC conducts studies on TVET and TVET-related issues of national importance and benefit. To date, the NTVETRC has conducted one (1) research study: The National Tracer Study of TVET Participants, which tracked learners who enrolled in a TVET programme(s) from 2015 to 2019, and investigated their transition from TVET programmes to the labour market. The reports of the NTVETRC's research studies are especially beneficial to:
Training providers to ensure the relevance of programmes; and
Policymakers to enable data-driven decisions on policies and investments that support a skilled and competent workforce for economic growth and sustainability.
Auxiliary/ Supporting research conducted on TVET/TVET-related issues:
Auxiliary/ supporting research studies are special studies commissioned by the NTA to evaluate specific TVET trends, issues, policies and programmes. They are typically undertaken on an as-needed basis, often to produce reports that address critical information gaps, measure specific impacts or outcomes of a TVET intervention, or support strategic and policy decisions. Such research includes tracer studies, stakeholder feedback surveys, and other evaluative studies. These reports are beneficial to all stakeholders within the TVET sector.
