STARTALK 2023 Chinese Teacher Retreat

Startalk 2023 Cape Cod Chinese Teacher Retreat  Program will be held in a resort town on the Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It will offer middle or high school Chinese teachers, of varied experience, the opportunity to learn or deepen their teaching skills by delving into STARTALK principles and exploring the TELL criteria of PLANNING, LEARNING EXPERIENCE, and PROFESSIONALISM. Led by experts in the Chinese as foreign language field and seasoned practitioners in the K-12, realm, Jian Gao, Ma Ya, and Ping Wu, the participants will be able to create a, culturally rich, thematic unit, using backward design and their understanding of proficiency acquired through Modified Oral Proficiency Interview (MOPI) training. By the end of this program, participants will be able to share an Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA), entailing the three modes of communication; they will record a class with their own students to share online. Peer review and collaboration will create a Teacher Learning Community (TLC).

We are working on getting graduate credit for additional cost, hope it can go through.

When: Year round, half time on-line, half time face-to face from July 3 - July 14 

Where: Face-to-face location will be on Cape Cod, Masssachusetts

Cost: free mutiple occupancy in Airb&b setting, up to $600 travelling related reimbursement
