What is Brass Ensemble?
Brass ensemble is a group that is comprised of only the brass section from a concert band. The instruments we use are trumpets, French horns, trombones, baritones, and tuba. Sometimes, percussion is included for certain pieces.
Music that is played by this group spans many genres: classical, jazz, rock/pop, movies, and original compositions.
Who can join?
The NSCSD Brass Ensemble is open to all brass players in grades 7-12. ***6th grade students are welcome based on their band director's recommendation.
Events/concerts we participate in:
The brass ensemble performs on a number of concerts throughout the winter and spring. Some are:
- carols for CNS Jazz winter concert
- NSJH/CNS combined concert
- Brass Bash!!! (at Syracuse University)
- small ensemble concerts
- middle school performances
