About Mrs. Spencer~

Mrs. Spencer has been at NSJH since 2009. Her daughter once said that she was "like Barbie" because she has "done everything!" She went to Ithaca College and studied speech therapy, education, music, psychology, Spanish, and sign language. After working for BOCES as a speech therapist for 7 years working with a variety of students in preschool through high school, she finished her master's degree at SUNY Oswego and became a special educator. She has worked with several teachers and had her own classroom, too. Consulting and co-teaching with English, math, social studies, and science, Mrs. Spencer has relearned many skills and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others.

Outside of school, Mrs. Spencer lives in Syracuse with her husband, daughter, dog, guinea pig and crayfish. She loves to read, sing, and play piano, spend time with family or friends, bake, garden and go on adventures. She is a musician who sings with the Syracuse Opera chorus, performs with other singing and theatre groups, and enjoys helping out with the NSJH musicals and talent show auditions. In the classroom, she keeps the attention of the students by singing and acting at times. She offers any connections she has learned or can think of so that others can remember concepts. Over the summer, she swam, went boating, biked, and went ziplining over Montmorency Falls in Canada and through a beautiful field in Spencer Valley, NY. Mrs. Spencer likes to have fun and is excited about the new school year and all she will learn with her new teaching partners and students!
