Growth Mindset

The power of the word

'Yet'...

The first few weeks will be spent getting to know each other, establishing and practicing class expectations, adjusting to the new routine and way of learning, as well as building our class community. It is my goal to help each child to feel welcome and a part of our class community/family! Along with that, we spend time learning about growth mindset and how that can help students (or anyone!) work towards success. Students will learn how to "grow their brain" and that mistakes will happen but they are OK! We will set goals and brainstorm ways to achieve them. Together we will also work on becoming problem solvers. Of course, I want students to ask questions and be curious about their learning, but it is also important that they are able to work out a problem on their own. We will spend time talking about what this means and looks like in the classroom.

This year is going to be a learning experience for many reasons. We will all need to work together to ensure the greatest success possible for our third graders! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with ANY questions throughout the year! Sincerely, Mrs. McAvoy
