Allen Road Elementary School
Each grade level works with our Technology Teaching Assistant Ms. Frateschi and our Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Benson to complete multiple computer projects throughout the year.
Allen Road Elementary is committed to ongoing improvement of technology access for our students. We are striving to maintain, with the help and support or our technology department, enough devices for each student to have a 1:1 experience - meaning your child will have an appropriate device dedicated for their use while in school. These devices stay in school.
ARE currently has 16 Chromebook carts, most of which contain 20 devices. This, in combination with approximately 21 laptops, allows us to distribute enough devices to ensure a 1:1 experience for students in grades 1 – 4. Our library also has a Chromebook cart for whole group library instruction with Mrs. Benson, as well as Chromebooks designated for staff sign out. Additionally, we have a laptop cart in the computer lab. Staff members are welcome to sign out laptops to be kept in classrooms for student or staff use.
ARE currently has iPads for Kindergarten students. Teachers use these for centers, educational software, and communicating with home. In rare situations, iPads are also provided for students at upper grade levels if specific student needs warrant their use.
Our Library Media Center has 23 student computers and 2 teaching stations.
New to Allen Road in 2019 is a Flexible Learning Space in Room 115, formerly the Computer Lab.
All students receive training in Digital Citizenship and learn to utilize technology - including, but not limited to mouse/keyboarding skills, software instruction such as Microsoft Word and Google Apps for Education (Google Classroom, Slides, Docs), and internet searching.
All classrooms contain a networked teaching station complete with document camera and SmartBoard.
