Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year with Mrs. Capria. I am very excited to learn and explore with you this year in class.

Classroom Norms

1. Everyone can learn math by working together to solve the problems. Learning is not about the destination, but the path we take to get there. You will almost always be working together to discover math.

2. You can’t learn anything without mistakes. Remember that Thomas Edison had 1000’s of unsuccessful attempts at the light bulb before creating it. When asked about his failures, he said they were not failures, but 1000 steps to the final invention.

3. Questions are the building blocks of knowledge. Ask as many questions as you want to your classmates, me as the teacher, and yourself.

4. You are here to learn about the beauty of mathematics. Math is a subject that requires time to learn and make connections. This class is all about your effort and the learning that happens, not a grade on a state assessment.

In all of my courses, we use the TI-Nspire CX Calculator. While we have a classroom set, you may wish to purchase one for yourself to use at home for any work completed outside of class.
