All students at LSS visit the library at least once a week for a 40 minute period. During each class we read stories, learn about authors and illustrators, practice research skills, work on curriculum-based projects as requested by classroom teachers, as well as check out books!
Generally, lower wing students may check out books for a one-week period; upper wing students check out books for a two-week period. Special arrangements can be made for books borrowed for a school project.
Book circulation stops each school year the week prior to Memorial Day in order to track down all overdue books before the end of school.
If a book is truly lost, or damaged beyond repair, there will be a replacement fee (which varies depending on the type of book). In terms of lost books, several reminder notices will be sent home during the year and we will not ask for this fee until the end of the school year, when it is clear that the book is lost. I recommend you check under and behind furniture, as well as in your child's classroom's library. More often than not the book does turn up!
Please contact Mrs. King if you have books you might like to donate to the library.
