How I built this: Zola created by Shan-Lyn Ma posted April 18, 2022
This podcast is all about Shan-Lyn founder of zola. The three main takeaways I took from this is one to take risks be creative, and be able to learn from both your mistakes and the mistakes of others.
The first take away I had from this project is to be able to take risks. Shan-Lyn had always has always had a buisness mind. She was hooked on entrepreneurship after winning her first business competition in grade school; and a few years later, she began accumulating lessons from the successes and failures she observed while working at Yahoo and other young companies She decided to take the risk of started her own company. If she never decided to take the risk she never would have reached the success that she did. When she quit her job she didn't even have an idea for a buisness yet!!
I also toke away from the podcast the importance of being creative and thinking outside the box to find solutions to problems. When Shan-Lyn and Nobu were looking for ideas to start a buisness they decided to first look for problems. They brainstormed a bunch of problems and then thought what they could do to improve these problems. Creativity is what lead them to creating their buisness!
Another takeaway I had was to learn from your mistakes. When starting up Zola Shan-Lyn decided to learn from the past mistakes from the former companies she had worked at. She knew she had to create a company that would be substaniabal. She also knew she had to work with someone she trusted which is why she decided to create a new buisness with Nobu.
I found this podcast to be very intresting and very inspiring to take risks and follow your dreams!
