"Snapchat is all about fun and spontaneity. By default, the text, photos and videos you share delete automatically after being viewed by the recipient. Users love that they can share a moment that’s digital footprint-free — they don’t have to think about how their photos, videos or comments make them look to some unknown audience in the future. However...there are ways to save what you share. So no one should develop a false sense of security."

Something to consider: You can chat by video, audio, or text on Snapchat. Although snaps are supposed to disappear after being read (if you add a Snap to your "Story", it stays for 24 hours), there is nothing to stop the receiver from taking a screenshot or using a 3rd party app to keep the message. What happens with the snap after that is now out of your control. Snap Maps lets all your friends see your location - that could be good, or scary depending on the situation.
