Athletic Hall of Fame
Selection Criteria
1. There will be three (3) categories of inductees; Athletes, Coaches and Other Contributors to Algonquin Athletics.
2. Athletes must have graduated from Algonquin or have completed three years of attendance.
3. There is a minimum of five (5) years after graduation from Algonquin to be eligible for consideration.
4. Coaches must have coached for at least 7 years. To be eligible to be considered.
5. Inductee will be considered for their overall contribution to Algonquin Athletics during their enrollment or connection with Algonquin.
6. Nominations will be taken from the Hall of Fame Committee members, coaches past and present, athletes and the general public.
7. It is recommended that the selection committee be comprised of 7 (seven) members: Two current students members of the Athletic council, The Athletic
Director, A member of the Boosters club Past or present), A current or past coach, and an active member of the community. The 7th member will be a representative from any one of the categories listed above.
8. The Selection Committee will review all nominations for entry into the Hall of Fame. If a nominee receives at least 3 (three) committee members votes, and does not enter the Algonquin hall of Fame, that nominee will be carried over the next voting period without needing re-nomination.
9. A member of the Hall of Fame Committee or a member of their immediate family may be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but the committee member involved may not participate in the voting process for that candidate.
10. After the first induction in 1998, the induction ceremony will occur every other year, to coincide with the home Thanksgiving Football game.
11. This document may be changed or altered by the Athletic Council by an affirmative vote of at least three fourths of the members.
