2019 - 2020 Trust Land Plan 

Greatest Academic Needs:

1.     Improve student reading and fluency for all students

2.     Improve student mathematics performance and understanding

 

Goal #1:

80% of all students will read fluently at or above grade level by the end of the school year 2019-2020. 

Measurements

We will use the DIBELS Next measurement, which will be administered in the fall, and winter of 2019, and the final assessment will be the in the spring of 2020.  

Action Plan Steps

1.     Primary grades (K-2) will teach phonemic awareness, phonics, and early reading skills regularly to help students learn to read.  Middle and upper grade teachers will continue to emphasize reading fluency and progress monitor students to help improve reading fluency.

2.     Teachers and teaching assistants will progress monitor the students' fluency at specific intervals based on student need and report results to the principal monthly. Schedule for monitoring Below benchmark = weekly. On level/ above level bi-weekly/ monthly.

3.     Interventions – students who are not making sufficient progress will receive focused interventions, which might include: Early Steps/ Next Steps; Read Naturally; phonics for reading, STAR, reading Lexia, and other small group/ individual instruction. 

4.     Read Naturally Program will be operated by a teaching assistant who will be funded from the Trust Land money 

5.     We will hire 2 teaching assistants to run the Read Naturally Program and to assist teachers with small reading groups and other interventions.

Expenditures For Goal #1:  T.A.s to run Read Naturally and reading intervention and small group interventions– Salary $17,000.

 

Goal #2:

70% of the students will be proficient on their grade level mathematics by the end of the school year

Measurements

Grade level comprehensive mathematics assessment from Go Math, or District Assessment given will be given three times during the year in the fall, mid-year and at the end of the school year. 

Action Plan Steps

1.     Teachers and staff will implement hands-on approaches to teaching mathematics, including the use of models and visual displays for student work whenever possible. 

2.     Regular staff development and PLC team meetings will focus on effective tasks/ activities and games to help student learn mathematics conceptually and with deeper understanding.

3.     Teachers will use formative assessments to monitor student progress between three summative assessments.

4.     Teachers will identify students who need interventions and use teaching Assistant support to work with each class teacher to implement interventions for students who need additional support. 

5.     Each grade will have opportunity to use supplemental program such as ALEKS, Sumdog, Timez Attack, etc. as both a teaching and assessment tool to help plan and keep track of student progress.
