It is my pleasure to be the School Counselor for students in grades 6-8. It is my 8th year as a School Counselor and 5th here at FSS. Middle school is a time of growth in all areas and I am grateful to walk alongside you and your child on their journey. Students will see me in classrooms, hallways, the lunchroom, and outside at recess. I teach SEL lessons during WINN or Health and often lead a Homebase group. Students may request to check in with me about something academic, social, personal, or anything else! They can do this through their teacher, send me an email, or knock on my door. We may set up a regular schedule to check in and build upon our skills to navigate middle school. Some students choose to visit my office with peers during lunch. The opportunity to get to know your child is incredibly important to me and I will reach out to you after we first connect. I collaborate regularly with each grade level teaching team to track student progress and problem solve for greater success. In addition, I support the Dean of Students and Administration in restorative practices for conflict or responding to situations that require counseling support. I am the 504 case manager and provide IEP counseling services for students in my grade levels.
Below I've highlighted key topics and resources that you may find beneficial. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns, questions, or celebrations!
Homebase:
Through our advisory program, Homebase, all students receive explicit Social Emotional Learning instruction utilizing the TRAILs to Wellness curriculum.
No Place for Hate:
This year, we will be adopting the No Place for Hate program through the ADL and incorporating key lessons, activities, and assemblies to bring our community together to encourage growth in our sense of belonging and climate.
SchooLinks:
Students in grade 6-8 will utilize a new district platform to explore areas of interest for their future with support from the Dean of Students and School Counselor. We will take inventories, learn more SEL and life skills, explore careers, and set goals. This program will carry over year to year and transfer seamlessly to the work done when your child reaches Nashoba Regional High School.
SBIRT:
Per MA state regulations, students in grade 7 will be screened utilizing the SBIRT process. Opt out information is sent out annually.
SOS:
Students in grade 8 will receive the SOS program lesson to learn how to ACT for themselves and peers. Students will take a brief screening for depression and receive appropriate counseling follow up.

High School Transition:
In 8th grade, students will begin thinking about high school during grade wide visits from Nashoba and Minuteman Technical High School. Students will be exposed to course offerings, innovations pathways, and extracurricular activities offered. If students apply to alternative high schools, they may request letters of recommendations and transcripts through the office and by reaching out to preferred staff members directly.
Nashoba returns in the spring for course selection based on teacher recommendation and elective interests. Students who wish to override to a higher level course will be given the application. Notification of this decision will come from the high school.
