This is a Wakelet collection of Eduprotocol information from a conference session I ran in Milwaukee.

Included: blog posts, videos, and a presentation with links and ideas.

Cybersandwich

Step 1 - 10 minutes of researching and collecting information.

Step 2 - 5 minute discussion of findings.

Step 3 - Each student will write a paragraph comparing/contrasting the findings.

Step 4 - Share out with others (Flipgrid, Class Presentations)

Variation: You can have students create a visual representation at the end: Play Doh, Legos, Maps, etc...

MiniReports

Step 1 - Read 1 to 2 sources and collect/sort facts into 2-3 focus areas.

Step 2 - If necessary, go over facts as a class.

Step 3 - Write 2-3 paragraphs based on the focus areas.

Variations: have students create a visual representation of the information using Pixton or Storyboard That.

Iron Chef

Before introducing the Iron Chef, I like to do the WORST Presentation EVER!! It helps the students design effective slides. Click here to learn more about the Worst Presentation EVER!!

Step 1 - Groups of 3 or 4

Step 2 - One person shares with the rest of group.

Step 3 - Each person designs a slide within 10-20 minutes.

Step 4 - Stop working when timer rings.

Step 5 - Create a presentation (Class presentation, Flipgrid, Screencastify).

Number Mania

Step 1 - The class will contribute data related to a given topic on a Google Sheet. (10-15 minutes)

Step 2 - Share some infographics and focus students to create an infographic around a topic.

Step 3 - Design an infographic - 20-30 minutes.

Step 4 - Share out and give feedback.

Example - Great American Race Renaissance

The Great American Race

Step 1 - Write a number on an index card.

Step 2 - On the other side of the card, write an answer (a vocab word, an event, person, place that relates to your unit).

Step 3 - Share a blank slide deck, whatever number is on the card is the number slide that student will create.

Step 4 - The student will list 3-4 clues about the answer on the index card. They should include a picture. (10 minutes)

Step 5 - Change permission settings, and the students will figure out the answers to the slides.

Variation: turn it into a digital breakout, or roll dice to determine the amount of clues per slide.

Sketch and Tell

Step 1 - Have students read article or watch video - 10 minutes.

Step 2 - Students use Google Shapes to design a visual representation of the main idea.

Step 3 - Students tell about their creation.

Step 4 - Share to a class slidedeck or share through Flipgrid.

Variations: use Legos, food, or Play Doh.
