The Mediterranean and Arab Regional SHAW-IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education (MARAsE Workshop) will be held in person from December 1-3, 2025, with a potential extension to December 5th. We are honored to host this event at the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Helwan, Cairo, Egypt.

This workshop is proudly organized by the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) Center in Egypt and the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), in partnership with the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education Center in Italy (I-OAE). This initiative is a collaboration with the global IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) and is made possible through generous funding from the Shaw Prize Foundation.

Workshop Aims & Objectives

Our primary goal is to build a vibrant and collaborative network for astronomy education across the Mediterranean and Arab regions. We aim to:

• Foster Collaboration: Create a lasting channel of communication and cooperation between educators in Arab and Mediterranean countries.

• Develop Resources: Enhance the exchange of information to support the creation and sharing of high-quality, Arabic-language resources for astronomy education.

• Address Challenges: Identify common challenges in astronomy education within the region and collaboratively explore effective solutions.

• Raise Public Awareness: Promote a clear public understanding of astronomy and emphasize the crucial distinction between astronomy and astrology.

• Promote Best Practices: Encourage respect for intellectual property and advocate for the integration of astronomy into school curricula at all educational levels.
