Back to School Meet the Teacher Night:
Back to School night is scheduled for September 19 starting at 5:30 pm. Parents may enter the building at 5:15. You will report to your child's period 1 day 4 class. Teachers will be in their classrooms to review information about their class and share student expectations. To help you be best prepared for this event, please have a copy of your child's schedule. Please make sure that your child explains the schedule to you. They are quickly becoming experts at knowing where to go and understanding how to read the schedule. School personnel will be available to assist you. Please remember that this is the opportunity for you to meet the teacher. Due to time limitations, teachers, counselors, and administrations are unable to speak with parents about individual children. If you would like to speak about your individual child, please contact your child's grade level administrator or the school counseling office to set up an appointment.
6th Grade Trip:
We kindly ask you to check with your child for a permission slip for a trip to the Bronx Zoo. Permission slips will be given out this week. If your child has not received a permission slip by Friday, September 13, please let us know so we can ensure it gets to you. The permission slip and payment are due Tuesday, October 8. We kindly ask for all guardians to please hand in all permission slips along with the $35 trip cost. Children are not permitted to attend any field trip without a permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Lockers:
Students in grade 6 will receive their locker assignment on Wednesday, September 18. We understand that not all students desire a locker. To that end, students in grades 7 and 8 who want a locker need to complete a Locker Registration Form. Forms will be available during grades 7 and 8 lunch periods on Wednesday, September 18, they can also be acquired in Mr. Trujillo's office, Room 333 during the day. Once a form is received a locker and combination lock will be assigned.
Cell Phones:
Cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day and must be out of sight. Students may use the phone in any office if they need to contact parents. We ask that you do not text or call your child on their cell phone during class time. Please contact the school counseling office, the main office, or any administrative office if you need to speak with your child. We will have your child call you back. In the event of a family emergency, we will call your child out of class to take the call.
Fall Sports:
The registration window for Fall Sports is coming to an end. Any student who has not registered though Family ID and who does not have an updated physical cannot try out or stay for athletic practices. Once you register and upload the required information into Family ID, you should check back to see if your child is cleared and approved for try-outs and participation. Please check the New Rochelle Athletic Department website for detailed information.
