Hi there, I'm Mr. Paulsen

This will be my third year teaching the AP Computer Science Principles curriculum, and my seventh year overall teaching at New Rochelle High School. Beyond this class, I am also the NRHS Librarian, Robotics Director, and Maker space teacher.

My Education

Iona College

I actually have a long history in the New Rochelle community, as I am a graduate of Iona College, where I completed a Bachelors in Adolescent Education for Social Studies.

Queens College

After graduating from Iona, I continued on to Queens College where I completed my first masters degree in Library and Information Sciences, with a concentration in School Libraries.

NYIT

I am currently completing my final semester towards my second masters at New York Institute of Technology. When I complete this course I will be awarded a Masters in Instructional Technologies

Technology and Me

I have spent much of my free time developing a love and talent for the use of technologies, especially digital photography and videography. Using these skills, I spent three years working for the Apple retail stores, where I was an in-store teacher and offered technical support at the Genius Bar.

Digital Photography

In my spare time, I enjoy developing my skills as a photographer and videographer. I have been working in this field for about 6 years, and predominantly shoot weddings and events. I enjoying it so much that I couldn't help myself from taking the camera at my own wedding to take a photo of my new wife.

Robotics

Five years ago, I helped found the NRHS Robotics Team, the New Ro-Bots. We are a competitive robotics team that participates in the FIRST Robotics Challenge. This is our team's sixth season, and we are coming off our best performance yet in 2018. If you're interested in joining let me know!

Apple

Those who know me well, know that I am a big fan of Apple. I am a predominantly a Mac user, I have had every iPhone since the iPhone 4, and am always looking to close my rings on my Apple Watch. I have also had the pleasure to work for Apple, where I was an in-store trainer and Genius.
