Homophobia is the hate or prejudice against gay people.
Transphobia is the hate or prejudice against transgender people.
Homophobia has been steadily increasing over the past decade. People do not really know how much they can hurt.Â
Faggot is a slur often used to degrade gay people. Dyke is a slur used to degrade masculine-looking lesbians or sappic people.Queer is a slur used to degrade the LGBTQ+ community as a whole.
Over the past decade queer people have been reclaiming these slurs and turning them into a good thing. It's still considered innapropreaite for a straight person to call a gay person a faggot. This is because of the history of the word.
The f slur was created when British people would roll gay people up in rugs and burn them. The burning gay people looked like ciggarettes so they called them fags.
