Class Information

5th and 6th Grade PE/Health: Norfolk Middle School

Mrs. Reedy's Class Information Sheet: 2017-2018

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

  • Be a Polite/Positive Participant (SPORTSMANSHIP): Be respectful and Invite others to play with you, listen carefully and follow instructions the first time.

  • Be Prompt: We want to get started right away so we have the most amount of time to be active.

  • Come to class Prepared: Appropriate clothing/shoes. You must have your tennis shoes with you every PE day in order to receive points. Shoes must be tied and appropriate for class. Your grade can suffer if you are not ready for class, so please prepare and be responsible. I expect you to be actively involved and participating in all activities throughout the entire school year.

  • Be a Problem Solver: Be respectful of others and property, solve problems with other classmates in an appropriate manner.

  • Be Productive: Participate and work hard in class, follow directions, offer ideas and solutions.

All students must abide by the student expectations. Appropriate behavior is always expected. Safety has to be my number one concern in PE class. Inappropriate behaviors and disrespect can lead to someone getting hurt and we have to avoid those situations. I want everyone in class to have the safest environment possible.

This is a physical education class, so we will be evaluating physical skills and fitness levels throughout the school year. We are looking for students to fall into the Healthy Fitness Zones in the areas tested. These areas include the PACER, Sit-ups, Push-ups, Sit-n-Reach, and the Trunk Lift. Please challenge your children to practice these on a daily basis. The more they practice, the better they’ll get.

PARTICIPATION: For a majority of the year, students have PE twice a week. If you miss or do not take part in PE class, you are responsible for getting an activity makeup slip for class. Activity will need to be completed at home and then this slip will need to be filled out and signed by your parent/guardian before turning in for credit. This is just like doing your make-up work for your other classes. Responsibility is important so you receive your class points.
