Welcome to second grade! I am Mrs. Silva, and I can’t wait to meet you and start a new year. I hope you all enjoyed your summer. Mr. Silva, Matthew, who graduated from TCNJ with a degree in Finance and is now working at Bristol Myers Squibb, Penny our doggie (6lbs Yorkie, which you will hear a lot of stories about), and I had an awesome summer! We were off visiting many NJ beaches, such as Wildwood, Cape May, LBI, Ocean City, Spring Lake, Long Branch, and Manahawkin. Also, of course, the pool, lots of time with friends, and lots of time spent outside. It will be exciting to share our summer memories with each other. I have been busy this summer, spending time with my family.
Be ready to share some of your summer stories on the first day.
Now that the summer vacation is coming to an end, I have been at school preparing our classroom and getting it ready for a terrific year in second grade.
This is such an exciting year for you. We will be reading many wonderful books and writing stories. We will also learn so many new things. In second grade, we will learn new Math games and do some science experiments.
There are many important jobs that I would like to share with you before the first day of school. There is a supply list at the end of this letter. You will need to have all of your materials to school by Friday, September 11th.
The second important job is to be responsible for bringing your binder with your planner and folder to and from school each day, with your homework assignments, along with any important papers for your parents or me.
Lastly, you will need to keep your things organized. We will practice organizing our desks and folders in school, and I’m sure your parents will practice at home with you as well.
I am thrilled to meet you and your parents on Thursday, September 3rd.
I know you will love our classroom and love second grade!
Love,
Mrs. Silva
P.S. I have two secrets for you to guess ?????
One is we have a class b_ar the word rhymes with hair.
We will also have living things that start out black, yellow, and white, then grow up change, and then have w_ngs.
Dear Parents,
I am so excited that your child is in second grade and will be in my class this year. I would like to take the opportunity to let you know that I value your child’s education, and it is of utmost importance to me. If there is anything important that you would like to share with me about your child (i.e. interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc.), please feel free to send a note to school at the beginning of the school year. I will be sending out an "all about your child" paper to fill out. I look forward to meeting all of you and working with you. If you need to reach me at any time please send a note in your child’s backpack, or e-mail me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Joanna Silva
