The New Providence Language Arts Department fosters an equitable environment where our students feel valued, respected, have a sense of belonging for who they are as individuals, and are supported as diverse and inclusive members of society. We promote a wide-range of reading options that seek out and express the multifaceted nature of our common humanity. Some of these texts will address aspects of human nature and experience that are complex and may be considered delicate. It is our goal, and the goal of the curriculum, to provide students with the opportunity to read, write, and discuss significant contemporary ideas and the socio-cultural history that generates these concepts. It is our hope that in doing so students will develop a deeper understanding of their own role in the world, the significance of language and literature in constructing that role, and appreciate the value of art and literature in exposing us to truths about ourselves and our shared experience in an effort to make personal growth and understanding more meaningful.
