Cross Country:

Newington High School’s Cross Country program saw significant growth this year with their outstanding performance this season. The boys' and girls' teams had strong showings, as they improved their records from last year. The boys' team had three runners achieve All-Conference honors - Senior Aiden Toth, Sophomore Samuel Geisler, and Freshman Michael Bohlke. The team saw a visually obvious boost in morale compared to last year, with the addition of the new runners they brought in. When asked if he had left this team in capable hands, Captain Aiden Toth said, “I believe I have. I have loved running for this team, and I believe we have the talent to do well in states and to be successful for years to come.”

Football:

At the time of writing, Newington’s Varsity Football program stands at 3-6. The team has had a surplus of Junior and Sophomore talent emerge with the lack of Seniors on the team. Despite the team's unfortunate record, they look to be a team of the future. Captains Noah Carrasco, Brandon Kamansky, and Cole Gallichio have left the team in seemingly good hands, as the team has only two games left: an away-game at East Hartford and a home-game against Wethersfield. The team hopes it can finish strong and has a positive outlook for their future.

Girls Swimming and Diving:

The Girls' Swim Team, at the time of writing, are still in the State Championships. Erin Abrams, Amber Rocheleau, Julia Mazur, and Lindsay Weaver will be swimming into State Trials on Saturday, November 10. Senior Captain Julia Mazur expressed how she feels proud of her team’s performance and believes the underclassmen provide a bright future for next year. Boys Soccer:

The Boys' Soccer team had their season ended by Glastonbury in their first State Tournament on Tuesday, but they still had a pretty strong year, going over .500 with a 7-6-4 record. The team included fourteen seniors to its varsity roster which makes next year's team potentially thin. Boys' Soccer’s future does look bright, though, with underclassmen Trey Sadler, Reed Campbell, Adam Khadrani, and Evan Sanford contributing to the team's success. Senior Captains Louis Egbuna and Jack DeGirolamo both said that they felt like the team exceeded their expectations, and they do believe that the future of this team will continue to be great.
