"Claustrophobia," January 14, 2019 for AP Studio Art
Mazur states about her photograph, "I wanted to express the fear of enclosed spaces. I used Photoshop and Snapseed to edit the image to make it sharper. I chose to make the image black and white so that there's a high contrast between the hands and her eyes. This is one of my favorite photos that I've ever taken because I'm claustrophobic, and I can feel her anxiety through the lens. I wanted to express emotion through this photo, and I feel like I've accomplished this very well."
"House by the Lake Photo" September 21, 2018
Giarratana states about her amazing photograph, "The location of the picture is a spot my mom and dad used to visit in New Hampshire, so this place is very special to my family and I. My favorite part of the image is definitely the reflection of the water and how crisp the water is. I also love the different tones of yellow, green, and blue. Photography has been a big part of my life for the last six years, and I was beyond thrilled when my best friend Sean Vasi asked if he could use one of my photos for inspiration. Sean's version of my photograph is stunning and beautiful. Sean is an amazing artist (even if he doesn't agree sometimes), and I am so proud of him for coming out of his comfort zone to try something new."
"House by the Lake Painting" January 14, 2019 for Painting 1
Vasi states about his beautiful painting, "This painting was the first I’ve ever done, for a class and in general. Compared to the original beautiful photograph by Nina, I think it’s fairly accurate and continues to bring forth the beauty in nature of the photo. I used a variety of brushing techniques such as stippling and cross hatching with both oil and acrylic paint. This was one of my most challenging projects because of how good I wanted to recreate Nina’s photo. Her photography is beautiful, and I did not want to make anything short of that. Being my first painting, it was difficult to get some of the textures and finer details from the original, but I aimed to keep the colors and values as similar as possible to the reference. I want to thank Nina for allowing me to recreate her photo and for giving me the inspiration to grow in my artwork!"
