Policy 0300: Mission - Goals - Objectives:
The Board of Education shall maintain a manual of policies as the base for the governance of the school system. The policies must at all times be in harmony with applicable laws.
All of the Board of Education's policies shall, in addition, have their sources in the board-adopted goals and objectives (0200) pertaining both to student learning and school system operations.
The Board of Education views its policies as aids to decision making and will to the best of its abilities make all its actions consistent with those policies.

The BOE Policy Committee will:
Be provided Legislative and Policy updates/highlights as received from our partnering firms, The Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) and Shipman & Goodwin;
For Legislative and Policy updates/highlights, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools will email BOE Policy Committee members, using their npsct.org email address, all applicable Legislative and Policy updates/highlights.
Meet regularly to review/discuss Legislative and Policy updates/highlights and make recommendations to the full Board to adopt new or revised policy as needed.
A) For meetings, the Policy Committee Chair and Assistant Superintendent of Schools will schedule and craft appropriate agendas for each meeting.
B) Committee members will review and make policy revisions/recommendations as follows:
as needed,
as legislatively mandated,
due to age and relevance (review cycle); and
with an “equity lens”
