Spellfleet

Welcome to Spellfleet!

Welcome to Spellfleet Academy, cadets!

You are to be congratulated on completing one of the most rigorous selection procedures in the Material Plane. You should be proud in this accomplishment, but you should also be cautious of placing too much emphasis upon it.

The individual achievements each of you evidenced to gain admission to the Academy might have set you apart from your peers at home, but take a moment to look around you now. Everyone you see has a similar record of accomplishment. Each of you are special, yet none of you are special. It’s a mindset. Learn it now and it will always serve you in good stead.

Spellfleet’s Mission

The mission of Spellfleet is to maintain, train, and equip adventuring forces capable of exploring new worlds and planes, establish and maintain diplomatic and trade relationships with new civilizations, procure magical equipment and technology to defend Toril, protect the homeworld from external threats, and to boldly go where no one has yet been.

Cadet Responsibilities

As a member of Spellfleet, your responsibility is to work as a collaborative team member and ensure the success of your team’s missions. You agree to improve your skills, support your team, and share in the riches of success.

Loot Sharing

As an adventurer, you may be familiar with loot. At Spellfleet, we embrace ethical looting while on adventures. Any loot gathered within the bounds of local laws and the Spellfleet code of conduct is equally shared among the adventuring team. The total value of items is calculated and divided equally. Team members may claim specific items, but will recompense the team for any value above their allotted share. Conflicting claims will be settled by a roll of chance on a d20.

Spellfleet Command

Admiral Dafydd the Gnome, Archdruid

The Admiral is the highest ranking officer of Spellfleet. He assigns the generals to their posts and oversees their endeavors. He also takes a  direct hand in training new cadets  and officers.

Generals

Each general oversees missions in their region of the multiverse, both short-term and long-term. Occasionally, they will also directly command missions in their own or other regions. They have the ability to astrally project through the Spellgates to the location of any member of Spellfleet when there is dire need.

Captains

Captains oversee short-term missions from Spellfleet. They also still actively participate in missions and command them when they are the highest ranking officer. Captains are given the ability to summon Spellfleet’s automaton constructs to assist their team.

Commanders

Commanders take the lead role in missions that are overseen by upper command. They learn to build a telepathic bond between their team.

Ensigns

Full members of Spellfleet, ensigns are sent on Spellfleet missons. They learn a spell cantrip known only to Spellfleet personnel that will briefly negate the Disintegration field protecting the Spellgates.

Cadets

Adventurers studying at the Academy start with the rank of cadet before becoming full members of Spellfleet. After completing training, they are promoted to the rank of Ensign.

Code of Conduct

Creating a SpellFleet Officer

** If you are brand new to D&D, please ask an experienced player or DM to assist in creating your character. You may also fill out the Google Form in our Google Classroom which will help you make choices about your character.

All Player Character options from Official 5th Edition sources are valid for character creation. Homebrew items and character options are not allowed unless introduced by Admiral Dafydd or Mr. Silvestri. Re-skinning of options for aesthetic purposes is okay as long as there are no mechanical changes.

We use character creation instructions from the updated Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. Different species/races do not impart specific ability score improvements. Instead of the older ability improvements, all characters benefit from +2 to one ability score, and +1 to a second ability score.

Ability scores can be chosen via the Standard Array or Point-Buy systems. For fairness, ability scores cannot be rolled.

At character creation, you should only have the base items provided by your class and background. At a gaming session, you can acquire additional equipment from the Player's Handbook with gold you have or earn.
