Google changed how third party applications such are approved for all Workspace for Education accounts. All services that require students to sign up or sign in with their NPS email account are now blocked by default.
Most (but not all) digital learning resources listed as approved by Northbridge Public Schools on the Online Resources website have been preemptively allowed in the Google console. However, use of any app that is not explicitly approved on this list, will result in an error.
Example of the error: Access blocked: Your institution's admin needs to review (Name of application)
You can't access this app until an admin at your institution reviews and configures access for it. If you need access to this app, request access. Error 400: access_not_configured.
What should staff do if they encounter the error mentioned above?
Check the NPS Online Resources list (linked above) to see if the app is already listed.
If the app is listed and marked as “Approved” in the agreement status column, you may go ahead and submit a help desk ticket with as much detail as possible about your needs.
If the app is not listed, please submit a help desk ticket so we can begin the approval process on your behalf.
Planning to use a digital application, website, or browser extension that requires student logins using school-issued email accounts?
You must submit a Freshdesk request for approval.
Before submitting, double-check the NPS Online Resources list—many popular tools are already approved.
Please note:
If a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) already exists through our Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC), approval typically takes 1–3 days.
If a new DPA is required, the process may take several weeks or longer, depending on vendor responsiveness.
You’ll receive an automated response regarding the approval or denial of your request.
If approved, the Technology Department will be notified and will add the app to the list of approved tools within Google Workspace for Education.
Need access to a third-party app for staff use only (not involving student accounts)?
Just submit a help desk ticket, and we’ll take it from there.
