Happy Summer of Literacy! We are so excited that you are using your time to soak up some sun and read something fun! Whether it’s a novel or memoir, a short story or poem, an editorial or personal essay, anything can be a summer read.
For your Summer of Literacy assignment, you will use whatever you have read to create a one pager. A one pager is a way of responding to a book on one piece of paper. It represents your own written and visual interpretation of what you have read. In this report you will show facts and information about the book, as well as creating a visual representation of the book. Your entire page should be filled. Use color and make your work polished with pen or marker; only make it black and white if that is the best design choice.
The score that you receive for your Summer of Literacy one pager can replace the lowest quiz grade that you received in English for quarter 1. This cannot replace a “missing”/zero-point quiz.
Consider that your selected reading will need to provide enough information for you to complete the task below. Make sure you choose something substantial that gives you enough information to incorporate into your one pager.
ALL options must include the title of the work and the author’s name. Any direct quotes from your text should have proper parenthetical citations (author’s last name and page number if available). Remember to put your name on your work as well.
Happy reading!
