Join us June 20th through August 25th for the NPS READ 14.2 Summer Reading Challenge. All NPS students, PreK-12, will be encouraged to complete a reading log over the summer to document reading experiences, with a goal of at least 14.2 minutes a day, five days a week. Such a routine allows students to enjoy more than 700 minutes of reading while increasing vocabulary and improving comprehension skills.
Students who read 710+ minutes will be eligible for prizes.
All participants will receive various coupons, to include free activities at APEX.
Through a partnership with COX Communications, 100 $50 monetary prizes will be awarded via the drawings.
Keep up with your reading log and turn into your 23-24 teacher by August 31st to be eligible!
Research indicates that self-selected reading is twice as powerful as teacher-selected reading in developing motivation and comprehension.
All students in PreK4 through grade five received custom, take-home book packs to enhance their summer reading experience. Students selected five new books that match their personal interests to enjoy this summer!
