"The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.K.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey. School districts observe this week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing/remediating harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying. "
Monday, 10/5, Wednesday 10/7, and Friday 10/9, we will be going live on WebEx to go over some important topics. Join me in my personal room at 2:15pm!
Make sure to join Google Classroom for the lesson this week. You don't want to miss out!
“In Accordance with the New Jersey School Association (18A:36-5.1) all public school districts, charter schools, Renaissance school projects and approved private schools for students with disabilities are required to annually designate the third week in October as School Violence Awareness Week. School districts observe this week by providing age-appropriate instruction to discuss methods for keeping schools safe from violence, to consider school safety and security plans, and to learn how to recognize students in need of help.”
This week we will learn all about how to be safe in school and why it is important. Lessons on this topic are posted here in the SEL Tab and on Google Classroom. Don't forget to send us your anti-violence pledges!
Red Ribbon Week (October 23 – 31) is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the Nation and a way for people and communities to take a visible stance against drugs Red Ribbon Week also presents an excellent opportunity to teach students about the benefits of building lifelong healthy habits, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Here are five tips to help you stay healthy: 1. Talk about habits and routines, 2. Practice eating healthy foods 3. Stay Active (even at home) 4. Work on how to deal with stress and bad days 5. Unplug and focus on YOU! In this week's SEL lesson we will learn more about this topic.
