NEWBURY PARK HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL MUSIC
The Newbury Park Concert Choir is a large, select mixed choir that learns and performs medium to difficult level choral music of varying styles throughout the school year. Performance venues are not only at Newbury Park High School, but also at other sites both locally and throughout the country. The NPHS Panther Chamber Singers meet during the 4th period all year. It is an elite performing choir of 15-35 singers, chosen by audition from the ranks of the Concert Choir. The Chamber Singers perform throughout the year for school and local community events including the Candlelight Ceremony held every December at Disneyland.
Our choirs sing at adjudicated festivals sponsored by the American Choral Director's Association and the Southern California Vocal Association They have traveled to Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Nashville and New York with Heritage Festivals and usually rank in the top tier. They also visit landmark sites and attractions with plenty of fun during the festivals. Both the Chamber Singers and the Concert Choir consistently receive Gold ratings (90% or above) at this festival and Superior "A" ratings at the Southern California Vocal Association Festival every year.
Ms. Madison Chamberlain is the Choir Director at Newbury Park High School and Sequoia Middle School. Ms. Chamberlain is a graduate of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, along with her teaching credential. In her time at UCLA, she performed with the Chamber Singers and the Opera UCLA program. Ms. Chamberlain was also a participant in Seraphic Fire’s Ensemble Artist Program, where she sang across Southern Florida with leading choral artists. A lifelong musician, she has experience teaching both secondary choral music and elementary instrumental music and is so excited to be teaching the NPHS and SMS choirs. In her free time, Ms. Chamberlain enjoys singing in choirs around Los Angeles, exploring new places, seeing her friends, and being outdoors.
