Bridle Path Library Frequently Asked Questions

How many books may my child check out of the Library?

Kindergarten students may borrow one (1) book at a time. Students in Grades 1- 6 may borrow up to two (2) books at a time. Exceptional increases due to school projects and teacher requests are permitted.

When (or how often) may my child select new library books?

All students are offered book selection time during their scheduled Library class, which occurs once every 4 school days.

What is the lending period for library books?

All books are given a 1 cycle due date. For example, if your child has Library Class on Day 2 and borrow a book, that book will be due on the next Day 2 of our Special Areas cycle.

Are renewals allowed?

Yes! Students are encouraged to read books to completion if the book is at their appropriate reading level and of interest. Books need to be brought to the library and may be renewed up to 3 times after the initial checkout.

Are fines charged for late, damaged, or lost books?

Students at the elementary level are not charged fines for late books.

Fines are charged for damaged books that cannot be repaired to their previous conditions (this includes nearly all water damage) or for books that are lost. Students are charged the current market replacement cost.

What should I do if my child has lost or damaged a book?

Please send a note to school with your child or email the librarian directly (fiedlekl@npenn.org). Communication will be sent home regarding the current market replacement cost. The library only accepts payment for these items, so please do not purchase new copies on your own.
