ARTIST STATEMENT BY AMANDA NORWTIZ, NPHS CLASS OF 2020

What does art mean to me? Art means everything. It’s the heart of creativity, an outlet to transform bottled up feelings, a way to make it as real to everyone else as it is me. All of my dark times have been made into art, it was a safety blanket when no one was there, sketching my feelings when no one would listen to words. Art has also brought me closer to my mom. She’s very artistic, and I strived to be like her. It’s a bond between us. Art is a different way of viewing the world. From the grass to the sky, there is color, a beautiful picture waiting to be captured. From a flower in a tree, undisturbed by the world around it, to the gentle ferocity of a tiger with its cub, art is everywhere. Everyone may see art differently, but I’d like to think that there’s art in everything to be seen, as well as in everything that is yet unknown. And that is what art means to me.

CONGRATULATIONS AMANDA!
