Parents and Guardians:
Look for answers to your questions here. If you do not find what you need, please email Mrs. Harris harriske@npenn.org
1) How many books may my child borrow?
Kindergarten and Grade 1 may borrow 1 book. All other grades may borrow 1 or 2 books. for pleasure reading. Reading Olympics team members may borrow additional books during preparation time.
2) What kind of books may my child select?
Knapp Library has over 10,000 materials in its collection. We encourage students to borrow books that speak to their individual interests, curiosities, and dreams. Please spend time sharing books with your child and reading to him/her too!
3) How long can my child keep their books and when do they return them?
Books should be returned on the following Library class day if your child wants to check out new books at class time. Students may return books during their library class or on Tuesday/Thursday mornings 8:55-9:10 AM.
If books are overdue for an extended period of time, the book becomes "Lost" and a bill for replacement will be sent to parents/guardians. As stated in the North Penn Elementary Handbook: "Parents/Guardians and students are held responsible for damaged or lost library materials. "
4) What if a book gets damaged or lost?
Some books can be repaired so please contact the library or ask your child to show the book to the librarian. If it is unable to be repaired, please contact the library or ask your child to request a payment paper. The payment paper will include the book title and cost to replace it. Cash payment is appreciated or checks made out to “Knapp Library." To use a credit card to purchase the lost book, please notify Mrs. Harris first at harrisk@npenn.org and she will notify you when the book is able to be purchased at the BTSB Support Our Library website
If you find a lost book at a later date and it is still in good condition, please return the book.
Please note: if your child brings home a book that is already damaged, please contact the library or remind your child to bring it to our attention so that we can repair it if possible before it circulates again.
If a book is damaged by a sibling or pet, the borrowing student still is responsible for the damaged book.
As stated in the North Penn Elementary Handbook: "Parents/Guardians and students are held responsible for damaged or lost library materials. "
5) Do you accept donations?
Knapp Library has a donation website where you may donate money or purchase wishlist titles (many of which are student recommendations) to add to our collection. You also can designate a donation to help defray the cost of a replacement for a lost book for a student in need.
Used Books: At the moment we are overwhelmed with used book donations and direct your donations to Knapp's Book Nook.
