Northwest Outreach and Wellness (NOW) Foundation is dedicated to strengthening the Mid-South community by breaking down barriers to employment and empowering local professionals with life-saving mental health tools. By bridging the gap between workforce opportunity and mental health awareness, we create a safer, more resilient, and productive community. Through our partnership with Mississippi Department of Mental Health, we equip individuals, employers and organizations with nationally recognized Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training.
Core Initiatives
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA): Training community stakeholders to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health crises or substance use challenges.
Benefits to our Community
Upward Mobility & Economic Stability: By training the underemployed, we reduce poverty, increase household incomes, and create a more competitive workforce that attracts business investment to Northwest Mississippi and surrounding areas.
Empowered Employers: Training employers and staff allows them to identify mental health challenges early, fostering a supportive environment that improves employee relationships and business outcomes.
Stronger Social Infrastructure: Social organizations that are trained in MHFA can better support our vulnerable neighbors, reducing the long-term cost of mental health crises on our community infrastructure.
Key Benefits Summary
For Residents: Skill for career advancement, higher wages, and a pathway to self-sufficiency.
For Employers: A reliable pipeline of trained employees with essential skills.
For the Community: Increased safety, reduced mental health stigma, and empowered helpers.
