My name is Joe Metz. This is my 21st year of teaching and twelfth as a Kindergarten teacher. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked on vegetable farms/orchards and was a computer programmer for IBM in Vermont.
I earned a master's degree in education at Lesley University, specializing in Integrated Arts. As we integrate the arts (music, drama, creative movement, poetry, storytelling, and visual art) into the curriculum, it is amazing to see how much students are engaged and learning in a variety of ways.
I enjoy hanging out with my family, tending our garden for the deer to eat, assembling jigsaw puzzles for the cats and dog to eat, and cooking new dishes for my family to eat. I also love to kayak, snowshoe, and hike. In my down time, I like to watch football, solve sudoku and word puzzles, and write poetry and picture books.
