In both 6 th and 8 th grade classes, we focus not only on learning the scientific facts, but on tying them into real-life situations and potential learning opportunities. We learn about Scientific Method and conduct many hands-on activities and experiments, which are concluded with formal lab reports. Traditional testing, partner assessments, research and discovery learning, as well as individual and group projects and presentations allow our students to show their knowledge and understanding.
Areas of focus for 8th Grade include:
Scientific Method (Conducting Experiments, Writing Lab Reports, etc.)
Motion and Forces (Newton's Laws, Gravity, Friction, etc.)
Work and Power
Energy and Energy Resources (Use and Formation of all types, Energy Transformations, etc.)
Understanding the Atom (Parts, Theories, etc.)
The Periodic Table of Elements
Waves (Formation and Properties, Sound, Electromagnetic, Light, Electricity, etc.)
