Our Makerspace is a place for our students to tinker and construct knowledge by doing. Students engage in solving open-ended design challenges. We hope to encourage a "maker's mindset", where students feel comfortable working together to invent and be creative problem-solvers.
As a library Makerspace, we often focus on activities connected to literature. We build and design solutions to the problems presented in the books we read.
A secondary focus of our has been on computer coding and electronics. We have several types of robots that we code to complete challenges.
The video to the right is of our principal, Ms Brown, meeting our library mascot- "CalBot". We built and coded our robot as an all school project. CalBot tells jokes, plays happy birthday, gives encouragements and has singing antennae.
