Friday May 8, 2020

Good morning/afternoon/evening....

Clifton Taulbert’s Uncle Cleve told him that, “I was building my future that very day and part of the building process would be choosing the people that I would carry into that future with me.”

a. Who in your network can you carry into your future to help achieve your vision?

b. How can you apply the concept of an internal locus of control to your mindset about your future?

The above statement and questions are designed to have you self assess how you will achieve what you want for your future. You do not need to send me the answers. Take a few minutes sometime today and make a list of the friends that you keep around you and evaluate if they would help you to achieve your vision or would they get in the way.

Thursday May 7, 2020

Today's lesson would have been a class discussion where we bring together some of the concepts that we have learned about in lesson 7. Below are the questions that I would be asking during class to have our discussion. Read the questions and reflect on how you would answer them if asked in class.

1. What is an “intentional community”? Why is it called that? Why is this concept important to an entrepreneurial mindset?

2. A social network is a social structure made up of people who are connected by common interests or goals. Do you belong to a social network (at work, at school, in your community)? Why? What are the common interests or goals of the network?

3. As we have seen, becoming an entrepreneur often requires us to think and act in new and different ways. Do you know an entrepreneur? How is he/she different from the others in your network of friends and/or associates?

4. How do peers often encourage us to continue to think and act as we always have? a. Would your peers be supportive of you becoming an entrepreneur? Provide examples from your own life experience.

5. The term “peer pressure” is often used in a negative context. Describe an example of positive peer pressure from your own life experience.
