Eight Subject Groups
In the MYP, your child will study a broad range of subjects, which helps them develop a balanced and diverse skill set:
Language & Literature
Language Acquisition (a second language)
Individuals & Societies (history, geography, social studies)
Sciences
Mathematics
Arts (visual arts, music, drama)
Physical & Health Education
Design (problem-solving and creative thinking using technology and real-world scenarios)
Inquiry-Based Learning
Instead of just memorizing information, students are encouraged to ask questions, explore topics, and learn through investigations. This helps them understand why they are learning something and how it applies to the real world.
Global Contexts
Learning in the MYP is connected to six global contexts that relate to issues faced around the world. This encourages students to think about global challenges and understand different perspectives. For example, they might explore sustainability, human rights, or technological innovation.
Approaches to Learning (ATL) Skills
The MYP focuses on developing your child’s skills for learning—such as research, communication, collaboration, self-management, and critical thinking. These skills are essential for success not only in school but in life.
