This is my third year as the Teacher Librarian at Oviatt! I taught 5th grade for 15 years in West Des Moines before transitioning to the library. I live in Waukee with my husband (who is a High School PE teacher), our two daughters, and our dog, Gus. When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, and going on walks.
The mission of the Norwalk School Library Program is to encourage reading for enjoyment while providing the learning community with the skills and resources needed to become independent life-long learners.
Students are able to make their own choice of which book they would like to check out. There are no limitations as to which books students may choose from. This allows students to use their own curiosity and develop their own knowledge of the types of books that interest them.
You may check up to 1 book at a time.
Books will be checked out for 1 week at a time. They may be renewed as needed.
If a student does not return the book from the previous week, s/he is still welcome to check out another book. If a student reaches 2 overdue books, s/he will need to return at least one book in order to check out a new book.
If a book has been damaged or lost, we ask that the student pay the replacement cost for the book. If you know that a book is lost or damaged please contact Mrs. Amundson to find out how much the replacement cost is. This will ensure that your child will be able to check books out at all times.
We expect that students will conduct themselves in a way that reflects the "Warrior Way". This means they use respectful, responsible and safe behaviors.
